Nita, Help the Brother Out..............

This past weekend I hung out with my childhood buddy Sister and Friend-- Anita and her guy Bear. For those of you living in Chicago, this time of year, if you suffer with Allergies, Asthma or Sinus…. it’s horrible!!!!!!!. While sitting at the table talking with the both of them, I noticed he had this uncontrollable cough and had to get his inhaler. Of course-- I’m just an old mother hen when I see Asthma suffereres, because my brother suffered so with this illness and also died from it. I recall reading an article in Alternative Medicine Magazine and it listed 7 ways you can fight Asthma. So Bear my dear, this is for you:

1. Medicinal Mushrooms- An extract form mushrooms called AHCC (active hexose correlated compound) Can actually help the immune system do a better job if you take 500 to 4,500 mg. per day, depending on the severity of the disease.
2. Boswellia(Boswellia Serrata-The gummy resin from the bark of the boswellia tree, which grows in India, North Africa, and the Middle East, inhibits inflammatory compound that lead to acute asthma attacks take about 300mg
3. Butterbur( Petasite Hybridus)- Recent research show that butterbur soothes airway spasms, one study found that more than 40 percent of butter bur users could take less asthma medication and still keep symptoms under control. Take 50 to 100mg.
4. Picrohiza( Picrorhiza Kurroa) This ayurvedic herb counteracts inflamed and restricted airways. Take 400 to 1,500 mg a day.
5. Pycnogenol- It’s a powerful antioxidant and also a strong anti-inflammatory. Take 30 to 60 mg
6. Vitamin C People with asthma can reduce the reliance on inhaled corticosteroids by taking 1,000 mg of vitamin C daily.
7. Vitamin Low levels of vitamin D are the culprit in asthma… Go figure…..

So there you go Mr. Bear! Now Nita go and take Care of that man..
